About Quantum Cascade Laser
A semiconductor laser is a laser device in which the gain medium is fabricated from a semiconductor material. In a semiconductor laser, the optical gain is achieved by injecting current at an interband transition with high carrier density in the conduction band. It is compact and has low maintenance costs. The most commonly used material in semiconductor lasers is gallium arsenide, because of which these lasers are also known as gallium arsenide lasers.
